Back in May we reported that Google introduced YouTube movie rentals to users in the United States. Last month, YouTube expanded this service to users in Canada and has today done the same for those living in the UK.
The announcement means that over 1,000 full-length feature films from major Hollywood and British studios are available for rent in the UK. Prices for each title vary, with The Next Web citing £2.49 as a typical rental cost.
Once rented users have 30 days to commence viewing. Once commenced they are given 48 hours to complete the viewing.
An announcement on the official YouTube blog stated,
“We’ve got some cracking films to keep everyone entertained through the upcoming winter months and beyond. From blockbusters like The Dark Knight and Reservoir Dogs, to new releases such as Hanna, Fast Five, and Red Riding Hood.”
Many of the titles available to rent are said to include extra content like “behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, parodies, clips and remixes”.
